As a pleasant last minute surprise, spent the last three days at the Raleigh Hopscotch Music Festival 2012. http://hopscotchmusicfest.com/ Lots of good bands played, lots of great drinks were had, lots of soaking rain fell and the sky thundered. Overall, this has been an extremely fun vacation even though few pictures were taken. I had no idea about the festival until the night before from my friend Neil, who was here specifically to attend. It was interesting to see this side of Raleigh after all the times I have been here to visit the parents over the last ten or so years. I had heard the area was getting bigger and more lively, and it surely did not disappoint. Raleigh has become a highly recommended vacation spot for others to check out now, between the historical aspect of the area and all the things to see for that, the fun and friendly nightlife, the independent music scene they have going on here, and of course the nature you can go get lost in.

This was taken in Downtown Durham, before meeting Jay and others at Merge Records and having some belly stuffing BBQ at Bullock’s. I must say that tons of food, good local beer, loud and fun music, and making new friends makes for the best trips.
