I usually very much love cemeteries and enjoy taking photos in them, but the Bonaventure Cemetery just outside of Savannah, GA is one of the creepiest ones I have ever been too. My wife and I are very sensitive to certain “events” and this cemetery was absolutely suffocating for us. We had been in Savannah for four days and decided to hit the Bonaventure on the way out of town. I should also say that we were getting very tired at this point of being “followed”, and this place was not the best place to get away from that… we both could not bring ourselves to even get out of the car here. Unfortunately, I had to take all my photos of the place from the comfort of the drivers seat.
This particular tomb (the Guckenheimer) was giving off a really bad vibe and this picture still chills me. The image after this one (I was intrigued and trying to get a closeup shot of the doors), the camera kept auto-focusing on one spot on the left door for no reason. I was really creeped out when I heard the shutter click… I saw a black flash, and of course… now that one image is somehow corrupt on the memory card. And yes, all the others on the disk are perfectly fine, including a wider shot of the doors immediately following that my camera refused to focus on.
