Tropical California

In animals, photoblog by Steve

So I’m going to start this site with a back log of photos that I’ve taken over the last 8 or so years. This butterfly I can only assume came from some idiots letting butterflys loose at their wedding. As far as I know, they are not at all native to SoCal. Every year, a new species shows up around the UCLA area… I have not seen this kind since I took this photo.

I think it was appropriate to start with this particular photo, as this was the first photo ever that I had published. That was the point that really peaked my interest in photography. I have rather enjoyed going from casual snapper to learning the finer points of photography. I have always looked at the world with a different point of view, a lot of time thinking in my head “Oh now THAT would make a great photo”. I am still learning with every photo I take, trying to get my camera to reproduce what I see with my eye. I should also say here that a lot of my frustration I was having at the beginning, was due to the camera I was using was simply just not capable of certain basic adjustments (like aperture and shutter speed). As the camera info states, it was a Sony Digital Mavica… one of the very first ones.
